Vicky Kaushal's biggest standalone film, Chhaava, is finally out in cinemas, and the movie has already shown positive growth at the box office. Released on February 14, 2025, Chhaava revolves around the story of Sambhaji Maharaj, the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire, and his bravery. The movie also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in pivotal roles. On its first day, the movie has shown strong growth in Maharashtra while making a decent start in other regions.
Backed by Maddock Films, the Dinesh Vijan production is expected to close its first-day earnings at approximately Rs 20 crore net, according to a Pinkvilla report. If the numbers prove to be true, there is a high chance that the Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna starrer will emerge as the biggest Bollywood opener of 2025 so far.
Laxman Utekar's directorial will compete against Captain America: Brave New World at the Indian box office. Meanwhile, the period drama will run parallel to Loveyapa, Badass Ravi Kumar, and the re-released film Sanam Teri Kasam. The report also states that the historical drama will take screens away from Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor's film, as well as the Himesh Reshammiya starrer Ravi Kumar.

Chhaava's advance booking indicates that the public is eager to welcome Vicky Kaushal with open arms and big popcorn tubs in theatres. The pre-sales of the period drama had been fantastic, and for 2025, it is the third-highest collector in advance booking after Game Changer and Vidaamuyarchi.
With about 3,400 shows, the movie has managed to sell tickets worth Rs 8.40 crore gross (excluding blocked seats) in Maharashtra alone. With strong support from Maharashtra, Vicky's Chhaava closed its Day 1 advance booking at a whopping Rs 13.85 crore gross (excluding blocked seats).
If the movie surpasses Rs 20 crore in collections on Day 1, it will become the biggest Bollywood opener on Valentine's Day, beating Gully Boy's Rs 19.40 crore net collection.
