It is already known that actor Sivakarthikeyan's production banner Sivakarthikeyan Productions is set to present the upcoming Tamil film Kurangu Medal. The makers recently announced the release date of the film. Kurangu Pedal will hit big screens on May 3, during the summer vacations. The film is directed by filmmaker Kamalakannan.

What is Kurangu Pedal about?

Kurangu Pedal has earned a name in the festival circuit after it became one among the three Tamil films to be screened at the Indian Panorama section of the 53rd International Film Festival of India, Goa. The other two films being Kida and Jai Bhim.

The upcoming film centres around a boy who is more than just eager to learn how to ride a bicycle during his summer vacation. Touted to be a children's film, Kurangu Pedal has a cast comprising of Santhosh Velmurugan, VR Ragavan, M Gnanasekar, Rathish, Sai Ganesh, Kaali Venkat, Prasanna Balachander, Jenson Diwakar and others. It is also worth mentioning that it has been long time since a children’s film was released in theatres, and with the film releasing during summer vacations, it is expected to give some respite from the mainstream commercial flicks.

Kurangu Pedal is produced by Sivakarthikeyan, along with Savitha Shanmugam and SuMee Baskaran. With music scored by Ghibran Vaibodha, Shivanandeeswaran and SuMee Baskaran have handled editing and cinematography respectively. Kurangu Pedal will release in theatres on May 3, along with Sundar C’s horror film Aranmanai 4 and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar-starrer Sabari.

In a conversation with OTTplay, the director of the film threw light about making children’s films. He said, “I believe that children's films have a huge market. Because if a child wants to see a movie, he or she cannot go to the theatre alone. They have to be accompanied by their parents or elders in the family. But the decision is the child's.”
