Chiranjeevi’s Mega 156, Mega 157: All you need to know about the mega star’s upcoming projects

Chiranjeevi, in his four and a half decade stint in cinema, has never let the failure of his films get the better of him. After a setback like Acharya, he drowned himself in work and immediately moved onto the shoots of Godfather, Waltair Veerayya and Bholaa Shankar. While the Meher Ramesh-directed Bholaa Shankar was a box office dud, he is quickly moving onto his next set of projects sans fuss.

Commemorating Chiranjeevi’s 68th birthday, two of his future projects were officially announced today. While the first, tentatively titled Mega 156, is an out-and-out comedy, produced by his daughter Sushmita Konidela under Gold Box Entertainments, his other project, Mega 157, is a socio-fantasy to be helmed by Bimbisara filmmaker Mallidi Vassishta under UV Creations.

While there are several speculations doing the rounds about Mega 156, it is more or less official that Kalyan Krishna, the man behind films like Bangarraju and Soggade Chinni Nayana, will be helming it. Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music for the film which is expect to star Sharwanand in a key role and Venkatesh in a cameo appearance.

Though it was reported that Mega 156 is the remake of Bro Daddy, sources suggest it’s an original script, a wacky entertainer on the lines of F2. The shoot is expected to commence as early as August 24. While the original target is to release the film for Sankranthi, an official announcement about the same is awaited.

Mega 157 will ha ve Bimbsara fame Mallidi Vassishta playing to his strengths - he has consistently maintained that he would want to carve his niche in the fantasy space. The announcement poster hints that nature is integral to its story - the motifs of trees, fire, water contribute to a viewer’s curiosity. Post Anji, Chiranjeevi hasn’t acted in fantasies and one can’t wait to see how the project shapes up.
