It's official! After much confusion about the digital premiere of Chithha, Disney + Hotstar, which has bagged the digital rights of the film, has finally made the announcement. Yes, Chithha will drop on the platform on November 28.
Siddharth makes the announcement
The film, helmed by SU Arun Kumar, dropped in theatres on September 28. Siddharth played the titular character Chithha (paternal uncle). The actor called Chithha, the film of the year, and wrote on his social media handle, "#CHITHHA on HOTSTAR We are thrilled to announce that your much loved and celebrated "FILM OF THE YEAR" SU Arun Kumar's #CHITHHA will be streaming on @disneyplushotstar from November 28th."
He added, " We hope you will continue to show us your support and will help spread the word about this picture we are so proud to present. From the entire Cast and Crew of CHITHHA, thank you and see you soon on #HOTSTAR from Nov 28." The film will be streamed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
The confusion about the OTT release date
There was a buzz on social media that Chithha was gearing up for its digital premiere on November 17. However, the film did not release on the said date. Unofficial posters of the film about its digital premiere began circulating, displaying the wrong date.
And when the film didn't release on the said date, there were questions galore on why Chithha didn't make its digital premiere. The official announcement is now set to put the rumours to rest.
Cast and crew
Chiththa features Siddharth, Sahasra Sree and Nimisha Sajayan in the lead. While Dhibu Ninan Thomas and Vishal Chandrasekhar have scored the music and the background score, Balaji Subramanyam has handled the cinematography and Suresh A Prasad has handled the editing. The film is bankrolled by Siddharth's production house, Etaki Entertainment.
