Leading stunt director Stunt Silva surprised movie buffs when he announced the details of his debut directorial project recently. Titled Chithirai Sevvaanam, the movie stars Samuthirakani, Pooja Kannan and Rima Kallingal in lead roles. Director Vijay has written the story for the film which will have a direct-to-OTT release this week.
The movie has music composed by Sam CS, while Manoj Paramahamsa and KG Venkatesh have handled its cinematography. Praveen KL, who is on a roll, has handled editing of the film.
What's Chithirai Sevvaanam all about?
Billed as a family drama, the movie revolves around the life of Muthupandi, played by Samuthirakani. He has pinned high hopes on his daughter Aishwarya, played by Pooja Kannan, who makes her debut with the project. Aishwarya, who aspires to become a doctor, goes missing after she joins a hostel in a city.
The investigation lead by a cop, played by Rima Kallingal, leads to some surprising revelations, which leaves Muthupandi perplexed. How the latter copes up with the disappearance of his daughter forms the rest of the story. Apart from the father-daughter bonding, the film also touches upon the controversial NEET entrance exams. The dark side of social media usage is another aspect the movie has tried to talked about.
When and where to watch Chithirai Sevvaanam?
The film is having a straight-to-OTT release on Zee5, on December 3. Its first look was unveiled by Dhanush while motion poster and trailer were released by Mohanlal and Sivakarthikeyan respectively. In an earlier chat with us, Silva said, "After waiting for a few months, we felt it was better to opt an OTT platform to release our film. The fact that OTT avenues have worldwide reach was one of the major reasons why we decided to choose digital release for the movie."
Interestingly, Samuthirakani's last outing, Vinodhaya Sitham, which had him at the helm, too, also had a direct-to-OTT release on ZEE5 a month ago.
