The teaser of bilingual film Clap, directed by debutant Prithivi Adithya, was released by Arya and Karthi on their social media handles on Monday. Aadhi plays the lead in the sports drama which has Aakanksha Singh, Prakash Raj, Nasser, Mime Gopi and Krisha Kurup essaying important toles. The one-and-a-half minute teaser begins with Aadhi, who plays a dedicated, but short-tempered sprinter in the film, getting ready for a 400m relay event.
Aakanksha Singh, who plays the female lead in the movie, essays the role of a hockey player. Ilaiyaraaja composes music for the film which has cinematography by Praveen Kumar and editing by Ragul. Dinesh and Sakthi Saravanan have choreographed dance and action sequences respectively for the movie, which is produced by IB Karthikeyan under Big Print Pictures.
The last shot of the film has Aadhi sitting on a couch and watching a relay event on television. As the camera zooms out, the actor is seen with his right leg amputated, offering a small glimpse into the film's story. Clap is the actor's first sports film in which he will be seen sporting two looks. He plays Kathir, an ambitious athlete in the movie, for which he had to shed a few kilos. The actor had earlier said that the first lockdown spoiled his plans to stay fit for the role. He put on weight during the uncertain period and had to knock off a few kilos again to get into the character's shoes.
Aadhi was last seen in the Tamil and Telugu versions of U Turn, while Aakanksha is making her Kollywood debut with Clap. The actress, who got trained under a few veteran hockey players in Chennai for her role, noted that playing a sportsperson is quite a challenge, and that it requires great mental and physical strength to pull off the character.
