Clash of the Titans: Yash’s KGF Chapter 2, Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey, Vijay’s Beast to go head to head

April is shaping up to become a good month indeed for Indian cinephiles, with some of the year’s highly awaited films locking in on a release date that month. And to make things all the more sensational is the fact that three major releases have zeroed in on April 14 for their release - KGF Chapter 2, Jersey and Beast.

It’s hard to say which one takes the cake in terms of buzz generated. Yash’s second stint as Rocky has been looked forward to by fans ever since the riveting first chapter closed on a jarring note. The first film had gone on to become the highest-grossing Kannada film of all time and it remains to be seen if its successor can match its formidable box office run.

Kollywood icon Vijay’s Beast had taken over internet conversation ever since its first look poster had come out. Also featuring Pooja Hegde take on a Tamil role after almost a decade, the film certainly has got fans talking.

Shahid Kapoor’s remake of the 2019 Nani starrer Jersey has been in the making for quite some time and the pandemic has certainly brought about more than a few snags in getting the film to the big screen. The film, which was slated to release on December 31, last year, was delayed indefinitely and it was only yesterday that the makers locked in on April 14. The film features Kapoor’s comeback onto the big screen after 2019’s Kabir Singh.

Jersey figures as the only Bollywood release among the three. Earlier Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha had been slated to be released on April 14 as well, but the makers had announced yesterday that the film would be delayed as there was more work to be done on the same. The film is now scheduled to be released on August 11.
