After Surender Reddy’s Agent, Malayalam megastar Mammootty has signed Yatra 2 with Mahi V Raghav

Malayalam megastar Mammootty is all set to walk in the footsteps of the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy again. After playing the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister in Mahi V Raghav’s Yatra in the 2019 release, the actor will reprise the role in the sequel of the film, which reportedly focuses on the padayatra of the current AP CM, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
There were speculations whether Mammootty would be part of the film, which is expected to have Jiiva in the lead role, ever since the makers had hinted of a sequel of Yatra. However, it’s now confirmed that the megastar will indeed be part of the film, which is expected to go on floors later this year.
Mammootty to reprise the role of YSR
A source close to Mammootty had revealed that the actor, who is currently shooting for Bramayugam, will be part of Yatra 2. Bramayugam is directed by Bhoothakalam filmmaker Rahul Sadasivam and has the superstar playing the antagonist. The team is expected to begin the next schedule of the film from September 8.
The source has confirmed that Mammootty could next join Yatra 2. When OTTplay reached out to Mahi V Raghav, the filmmaker neither confirmed nor denied the news. “It’s too early to comment about the developments or confirm the content of the film. We will be sharing an official update by the end of this month or beginning of October,” he said.
Kannur Squad to be Mammootty’s next release
Mammootty, meanwhile, has an exciting September ahead with his film Kannur Squad set to release on September 28. The film, wh ich is directed by cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj, has the actor essaying the role of a cop.
Apart from Mammootty, the film also has Rony David, Deepak Parambol, Manoj KU and Shabareesh Varma in pivotal roles. The actor is also part of Jeo Baby’s Kaathal – The Core, which marks Jyothika comeback to Malayalam after a span of 13 years.
