Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran will not just be collaborating with Kannada filmmaker Prashanth Neel by distributing Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2, he will also be starring in the director’s big budget pan-Indian feature Salaar, which has Prabhas in the lead.

The Baahubali star confirmed the news during a recent press meet, ahead of the release of his pan-Indian film Radhe Shyam. While OTTplay had reported the news that Prithviraj was in talks to join the movie in October, Prabhas told the Kerala media recently, “We are happy that he accepted to be part of it.”

This will mark Prithviraj’s first venture outside Malayalam since 2017’s Bollywood film Naam Shabana. His last Telugu film was Police Police in 2010. A few years ago, Prithviraj was also approached by the makers of Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy to be part of the movie, but he couldn’t take up the offer as he was busy shooting for his directorial debut, Mohanlal-starrer Lucifer.

Last week, Prithviraj had met with the producers of Salaar, Hombale Films, which is also backing Prashanth’s much-anticipated KGF: Chapter 2. The actor will be distributing the film in Kerala through his production house, Prithviraj Productions. The actor was all praise for the movie, tweeting, “Prashanth Neel has set a whole new standard with this one.”

It’s still unclear when Prithviraj will join the sets of Salaar. The actor has completed shooting for Shaji Kailas’ Kaduva, Dijo Jose Antony’s Jana Gana Mana and Alphonse Puthren’s Gold recently and had earlier shared that he would be taking a short break before he resumes shooting for Blessy’s ambitious film, Aadujeevitham.

The movie, which was partially shot in Jordan in 2020, will resume filming in Algeria, with a schedule again in Jordan and a short one in Indian later this year. Prithviraj’s next release is expected to be Jana Gana Mana, which is set to hit theatres on April 28.
