It appears that the team of the late Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar’s film James are indeed on track to release it on his birthday, March 17. As a precursor to the big day, they will release a teaser on Friday, February 11 at 11:11 am to give fans of the actor, who have been waiting eagerly for a glimpse of their dearly departed star, a sneak peek into what to expect a month later.

Since the start of the project, lyricist-director Chethan Kumar has been quite tight-lipped about the subject of the film, revealing only that it is an action-based commercial film with the right doses of romance and emotion as well. The film was nearing completion with only a couple of songs pending when Puneeth passed away tragically on October 29 last year, following a massive heart attack.

In the immediate aftermath of his leading man’s passing, Chethan had assured fans that his efforts would not go to waste and that he had enough footage to package the film and present it to audiences. Given that Puneeth had not dubbed for his role, the team tried isolating his voice as was captured during the making, but that effort did not pan out. Eventually, the actor’s elder brother and Century Star Shivarajkumar did the needful and dubbed for Puneeth’s portions. In fact, both Shivarajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar eventually ended up shooting cameos for the film as well.

Earlier this year, when a special poster was released on the occasion of Republic Day, it was finally revealed that Puneeth plays an army man in the film. He is paired with his Raajakumara co-star Priya Anand, who will be seen as cello musician Nisha Gayakwad. The film, which has music by Charan Raj, has an ensemble cast on board, including Anu Prabhakar-Mukherjee, Srikanth, Tilak, Sarathkumar, Mukesh Rishi, Rangayana Raghu, Aditya Menon, Chikkanna and Shine Shetty, among others.
