Criminal Justice Season 4: A Family Matter had 8 episodes in total, and the last, aka the climax episode, was released on July 3 on JioHotstar (OTTplay Premium). The plot for the new season was the murder of a nurse, Roshni Saluja (Asha Negi), with Dr. Raj Nagpal (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), her lover, as the prime suspect. However, Raj has been saying that he has not murdered Roshni. Then who did? Let's find out!
In Criminal Justice Season 4, we see that Dr. Raj Nagpal has a broken marriage with Anju Nagpal (Surveen Chawla). They have a daughter, Ira, who has Asperger's. On the other hand, Raj has an open love affair with a nurse at his hospital, Roshni Saluja. While Anju lives in the opposite room of Raj's home, she often visits his place to check on her daughter. Meanwhile, Roshni takes care of Ira. However, after the birthday party of Ira, Roshni was found dead, and Dr. Raj Nagpal was discovered holding her body, covered in blood.
This was the start of all. Raj was taken into custody as a prime suspect while Anju hired advocate Madhav Mishra (Pankaj Tripathi) to save her husband. While investigating, several truths about Roshni were discovered. It was quite natural that Roshni was a bit jealous of Anju also, as Raj was neither giving her a divorce, nor was he accepting Roshni in front of society.
As the case unfolded, Anju, who was also taken into custody as a second suspect, admitted that she murdered Roshni because she saw the latter was intentionally poisoning her daughter. While having a huge fight, Anju accidentally hurt Roshni's neck with a scalpel, leading to her death immediately due to loss of blood. Thus, Anju was arrested.
This was not the end of the case. When Raj went to meet Madhav Mishra in his office to thank him for saving his life, he informed Madhav that his wife had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and it was at stage 4. This confused Madhav, and he revised the whole case and came to the final decision that Anju took all the blame to save both Raj and Ira's lives. He went to the hospital to meet Anju, and they had a chat where Anju admitted the truth that it was actually Raj who saw Roshni poisoning Ira, and he murdered her with the scalpel. Raj begged Anju for help, and thus she hid all the evidence.
Notably, nobody even Madhav Mishra, could catch Anju's method as she was a former lawyer. As a lawyer, Anju knew how the case would turn, as this is why she was helping implicate herself to free Raj, since she was dying due to cancer and there would be someone to take care of Ira.
This entire confession/conversation was being recorded by Madhav Mishra, but he decided to delete it for the sake of their family.
