Venkat Prabhu's Custody is all set to hit screens on May 12. Going by the trailer, the film seems to be an action-packed drama about a honest constable. Naga Chaitanya Akkineni plays Shiva, the constable in the film, who fights to take someone into custody. Giving a brief about the film, Venkat Prabhu had stated, "The hero cannot afford the villain to lose his life. That's what the story is about." He also confirmed that the film will have a sequel.
During the pre-release event of the event, Venkat Prabhu said that the film will have all the ingredients for a commercial potboiler. While talking about the same, Venkat Prabhu made the statement, aka Dil Raju style! The ace director said, "In this film, Chay garu style venuma, style vundi. Action venuma, action vundi. Performance venuma, performance vundi. Family sentiment venuma, sentiment vundi. Mass venuma, mass vundi.Ellame vundi." The video has now gone viral on social media.
It is to be noted that producer Dil Raju had talked about Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu on the same lines during the promotions of the film. The lines also attracted many memes.
Meanwhile, Silambarasan TR is all praise for Venkat Prabhu's Custody. Taking to his social media handle, STR wrote, " #CustodyTrailer looks very interesting ! Looking forward to this one sir @vp_offl & welcome to Kollywood @chay_akkineni wishing you & the whole team a very good luck :) (sic)." Interestingly, Venkat Prabhu's last film, Maanaadu had Silambarasan TR in the lead. The film was a massive hit at the box office and was a comeback of sorts for STR.
Custody marks Naga Chaitanya's debut in Tamil and the actor has expressed his wish to act in many more films. It is also said to be his one of his most expensive projects. Krithi Shetty plays the leading lady in the film.
