Dalip Tahil has over forty decades of experience in Bollywood to look back on. The star has found himself a part of more than a few films which have been embraced by audiences, and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak is definitely one among them. The actor recently opened up about starring in the 1988 Mansoor Khan directorial.

In conversation with TOI, Dalip revealed that he had been offered the film after Mansoor saw the former’s acting in the series Buniyaad. The director had told that actor that he wanted a character that was strong, but also emotional and Dalip fitted the bill. The actor spoke of how the film was initially supposed to be helmed by Nasir Hussain and Sanjeev Kumar and Shammi Kapoor were in talks to star. But Mansoor had taken the reins when Nasir had health issues. Dalip said that several actors had turned down a role in the film as well.

Dalip, who was 31 years old at the time, played Aamir’s father in the film. Although Aamir was a teenager at the time, Dalip said that he did not even think twice about playing the former’s father. The actor revealed that he had heard the film’s prologue and had said yes to it even before hearing the rest of the story. “And I didn’t even think before taking up this role”, he said. Dalip added that he was neither married nor a father himself when he played the role in the 1988 film.

Qayamat Se Qayamat, which also starred Juhi Chawla and Goga Kapoorand, is available to stream on ZEE5.
