The romantic comedy De De Pyaar De 2, starring Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh, is set to make its digital debut on Netflix on January 9, 2026. About eight weeks after its November 14, 2025, theatrical premiere, the film will be available to watch on OTT.
| Film Title | De De Pyaar De 2 |

| Streaming Platform | Netflix |
| Director | Anshul Sharma |
| Lead Cast | Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, R. Madhavan |
Netflix has acquired the digital rights to the sequel to the 2019 smash hit. Big Bollywood films follow a regular industry timeline, and the transition to OTT coincides with that. Despite being one of the most anticipated sequels of late 2025, the film's release on streaming services provides a second chance for viewers who couldn't make it to the theatres or preferred watching it at home.
Midway through November, De De Pyaar De 2 had a mediocre opening weekend at the movies. Although it was marginally lower than the ₹10.41 crore opening of its predecessor, the film grossed around ₹8.50 crore net on its opening day at the Indian box office.
In spite of the intense competition, the film's early weeks at urban multiplexes were very successful. The movie made between ₹70 crore and ₹90 crore domestically, according to trade figures. Although the film had a reported budget of about ₹135 crore, it had a mixed performance at the box office. Thanks to respectable performance in other markets such as the UK and North America, the global total is thought to have topped ₹125 crore.
The sequel continues the narrative of Ashish (Ajay Devgn), a 50-plus London-based NRI, and his younger girlfriend Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh). The first installment focused on Ayesha meeting Ashish’s ex-wife and children; the sequel shifts the conflict to Ayesha’s family home in Chandigarh.
In the story, R. Madhavan plays the role of Rakesh, Ayesha's father, who is around Ashish's age. This sets the stage for a showdown between the two male protagonists and a fundamental conflict, which centres on the need for parental acceptance. The plot remains focused on the tension between the pair and Ayesha's overprotective parents; unlike the last film, this one does not have Tabu reprising her role.
Following in Akiv Ali's footsteps, Anshul Sharma has directed the film, whereas Tarun Jain and Luv Ranjan are the screenwriters. Ashish Mehra (Ajay Devgn), Ayesha Khurana (Rakul Preet Singh), Rakesh Khurana (R. Madhavan), Anju Khurana (Gautami Kapoor), Aditya (Meezaan Jafri), and Raunak (Jaaved Jaaferi) make for an ensemble cast.
Joining other recent theatrical movies on Netflix's January slate, De De Pyaar De 2 has the chance to reach a bigger worldwide audience through the platform's subscription base thanks to its digital premiere.
