Deepika Padukone is a force to reckon with, and the Bollywood diva is busy setting benchmarks with every move. While she has a long list of films she will be seen in, she is the face of several international brands, a global ambassador, and a household name almost everywhere she goes. With an illustrious resume like this, the biggest question one can think of is, does she ever think of moving out of the country? Padukone now gives an answer to that and has a very good perspective to offer.

Since the past few years, Deepika has been quite omnipresent on the global scene . After making her Hollywood debut with XXX: Return Of Xander Cage, she is yet to return to the screens in the West. But as an ambassador, she is the face of Louis Vuitton, Levi’s, and Cartier. She was a part of the prestigious Jury at the Cannes Film Festival this year, and the list only continues.

So, for an artist with a global footprint like hers, when in a latest Vogue interview, she was asked if she ever thinks of moving out of India, Deepika Padukone did not even think twice before saying no. “Why do I need to move with bag and baggage to have a global impact? Early on in my modelling career, I had an offer to move overseas and all of the fashion gurus in India said, ‘You shouldn’t be here, you should be in Paris, New York or Milan,’ and I was like, ‘No, those places are not my home. India is home,’” she said.

In the same interview, Deepika Padukone also spoke about nepotism and dealing with it as an outsider. “When you were an outsider 15 or 20 years ago, there was no other option. It’s an uphill task for any individual trying to make a mark in a field or profession that their parents don’t come from. The fact that we’ve started to articulate things like nepotism is a new trend. It existed then, it exists now and it will continue to exist. That was my reality,” Padukone said.

On the work front, Deepika Padukone, last seen in Jawan alongside Shah Rukh Khan, will be next seen in Kalki 2898 AD alongside Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. She will also be seen in Singham Again with Ranveer Singh, Ajay Devgn , Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Tiger Shroff. She has Fighter with Hrithik Roshan releasing in January 2024, and, The Intern remake opposite Big B. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more.
