Delhi Crime: Season 2 delayed as Netflix orders reshoots? Here's what we know

With its riveting story and phenomenal performances, Delhi Crime had become a hit with critics and audiences alike. So it's no surprise that fans have been anxiously awaiting for the second season of the crime drama. But in some disappointing news, it seems that viewers will have to wait a bit longer for season 2, as Netflix has reportedly ordered massive reshoots for the same.

According to a report in BollywoodLife, the streaming giant had been displeased with the output they had seen for the show’s second season and had ordered several portions to be shot again. The report stated that the reshoots were one of the main reasons for the second season’s delay. The work on the new season had also been delayed due to difficulties, including the lockdowns, brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A source also told the portal that the recently ordered reshoot was the second such one ordered by Netflix, citing dissatisfaction with the efforts of the show’s creative producer Rajesh Mapuskar and showrunner Tanuj Chopra. But despite this, the streaming giant does not have plans to replace the creative team at the moment. The streaming giant seems to be in rocky waters of late, as it recently reported that it had lost almost 200,000 subscribers in less than 100 days, this year.

The first season of Delhi Crime had opened to stellar reviews from critics and audiences alike. The first season was helmed by Richie Mehta and starred Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain and Rajesh Tailang in pivotal roles. The main cast are expected to return for the second season. The series had been nominated for and won Outstanding Drama Series at the 2020 International Emmy Award, becoming the first ever Indian series to win the award. The first season can be streamed on Netflix.
