Detective Sherdil could be the stepping stone for Diljit Dosanjh's Hollywood entry and you never saw it

Detective Sherdil is up for release this week, and with it, we are sure to get to see a new side of Diljit Dosanjh. The Punjab-based singer-actor is now aiming for Hollywood, and his role in the June 20 release could be a stepping stone into the same. Why do we think so? Here's taking a look...

Diljit Dosanjh, who was once in hiding in Punjab, now aims for a Hollywood debut. Him speaking in English for the first time ever in the upcoming Hindi movie Detective Sherdil could prove to those ruling the world of English movies that a shuddh desi munda can also adapt and speak their language with fluency.

The Sherlock reference within Detective Sherdil

By this point, we already know how Diljit wishes to reach Hollywood after exploring the world of Hindi films aka Bollywood. He has attempted to do so by talking about the greatest English detective known, Sherlock. There's a dialogue referencing Sherlock in his movie Detective Sherdil. This could be considered a clear hint that Diljit is open to work which could meet the standards of Sherlock, or that he hopes to work in Hollywood.

Diljit Dosanjh's docu-series

Not too long back, there was news that a docu-series on Diljit Dosanjh's life is being considered. When approached, Diljit had been trying to rope in the OTT platform Hulu, base the series around US, and meet with celebrities around the States. He, in fact, hoped that the docu-series is filmed within US. This is a clear indication that Diljit is now looking at stepping up in the film industry.

Diljit Dosanjh's International collaborations

Whether the neighbouring state or Asia, Diljit Dosanjh has tried to and collaborated with artists outside of India with the help of music. He joined hands with China-born but South Korea-based singer Jackson Wang for the music video, Buck. Wang even flew down to India to perform with Diljit, and he is just one of the many artists Diljit has collaborated with in the recent past. For those well-versed with K-Pop, Jackson Wang is a popular celebrity and has connections in US, too. All of these factors combined and we feel like Diljit is now shifting his focus to Hollywood. Detective Sherdil, releasing on Zee5 (available on OTTplay Premium) would be just a stepping stone to the singer's dream.
