Devil - Decoding Kalyan Ram's vintage costumes from the period drama

Devil is Kalyan Ram's latest film that has caught the attention of many. The period drama also stars Samyuktha Menon and is directed by Abhishek Nama on a massive scale. Slated to release on December 29, the trailer has created a solid buzz for the film.

From the setwork to the costumes, everything plays a special part in this film. Costume designer Rajesh says, “When director Abhishek Nama narrated the script, I wanted the costumes to complement Kalyan Ram’s look and character. Since the hero is an Indian who works as a British agent, the entire unit has decided to have ‘Indianism’ as the theme for the hero's wardrobe. That’s why we have designed a dhoti and a waistcoat to bring completeness to the outfits.”

Adding further, he says that Kalyan Ram has 90 costume changes in the film. Around 60 blazers made of Mohair wool fabric were used. The fabric was sourced from Italy.

A hanging watch was designed to complement the blazer near the pocket. A heritage watch collector brought the watch from Delhi. A lot of time went into making these costumes, as per the team.

Devil is Rajesh’s 60th film. This is his 8th film with Kalyan Ram. He earlier worked for MLA, 118, Entha Manchivadivira, etc. He is also working on 3 upcoming films. Kalyan Ram will be seen as a British secret agent in this film. Watch this space for more updates.
