Natarakshasa Daali Dhananjaya’s milestone 25thfilm released in theatres way back in March this year and even made its way to OTT a month later. But the N Vijay directed KRG Studios production is yet to debut on television. Well, if you’ve been waiting patiently for the film to come to TV, you’ll have to hold on a few more days. The story of the film is set against the backdrop of the hugely conflicted Maharashtra - Karnataka border area, where Dhananjaya as the title character is posted on duty. Casteism still prevails and when a boy from a marginalized caste ‘dares’ to fall in love with a girl from an upper caste, all hell breaks loose. The film received positive reviews from critics and audiences , with Dhananjaya’s measured performances widely lauded. However, audiences also thought that the stand-out performer of the movie was Naveen Shankar, who played the antagonist’s henchman Bali.

The film, which has music by Ajaneesh Loknath, also stars Avinash BS, Pratap Narayan, Anirudh Bhat, Mayuri Nataraj and Amrutha Iyengar, among others. On OTT, the film had dropped on Amazon Prime Video with Kannada audio only. Given that Dhananjaya has a fan following in Telugu cinema circles, there was demand for the film to be made available with Telugu audio as well but that did not happen.

Gurudev Hoysala was Dhananjaya’s second collaboration with KRG Studios, after Rathnan Prapancha. The actor is committed to doing another film with the banner, Uttarakhaanda, which will have him reunite with Rathnan Prapancha maker Rohit Padaki. The film will also mark the big screen comeback of Ramya. The actor was to have a release this week, Thothapuri Chapter 2, but with Rajinikanth’s Jailer in theatres, it had to be pushed ahead. He will also be seen in Satyadev’s 26th film Zebra, and has done an as-yet-untitled Kannada film that marks the directorial debut of Parameshwar Gundkal, who was the business head of Colors Kannada for many years.
