A few of the National Award winners from Kollywood opened up about their excitement before the media after the event was wrapped up on Monday evening. Dhanush, who won the award for Asuran, said that he was elated to have won the award on the occasion where Rajinikanth bagged the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award.

He said, "It makes me so happy that I received the National Award at the same venue where Superstar Rajinikanth, who I have admired from my childhood, was also honoured. I thank my fans and Tamil cinema lovers across the world." When asked about Vijay Sethupathi winning the award, he added, "He is a great talent. I'm really happy for him." On the possibility of winning another award for Karnan, Dhanush said, "I don't know. It's all God's grace."

Parthiban, who appeared to be in a jovial mode, said that he is excited, but he needs more awards. He said, "In Academy Awards, there are instances where one film wins many awards. I'm happy that Oththa Seruppu won Special Jury Award, but I am thinking why I didn't win an award for acting. I'm currently busy with Iravin Nizhal, a movie made in a single shot, a never-before-done attempt. I'm also planning to do a comedy soon."

Imman said that till recently, he was skeptical over whether the event would be conducted or not considering the restrictions imposed due to the pandemic. He said, "I thought that the award would be sent to our homes, but luckily with God's blessings, we had the opportunity to receive it in person. I have been busy with the re-recording for the second half of Rajinikanth sir's Annaatthe. To receive the award when he was also seated among the crowd was a wonderful experience. My musical journey spans more than two decades. All I can say is that hardwork never fails."
