Hombale Films is keen on leveraging the 2022 success to expand its territory as a production house. Vijay Kiragandur, the head honcho of the entity, has already declared that Hombale would be investing close to as many as Rs. 3000 crores in the entertainment industry over the period of the next 5-6 years, with at least one event film, too, part of these pursuits. But most importantly, and quite evidently, the team plans on venturing into other film industries as well and collaborating with artists and filmmakers from not only Karnataka, but all across the country.

One such endeavour is Dhoomam, a suspense thriller that marks the Malayalam debut of both Hombale Films and writer-director Pawan Kumar (Lucia, U Turn). Fahadh Faasil leads the film along with Aparna Balamurali, with the enterprising cast also including Roshan Mathew, Vineeth, Achyuth Kumar and others. The makers released the first look of the film recently and garnered a lot of appreciation from film enthusiasts and all the many million 'Fafa' (Fahadh Faasil) fans. While the Kannada moviegoers expressed disappointment over the fact that the film isn't a Kannada original, the first poster of Dhoomam did manage to get everyone talking, nevertheless.
Dhoomam will most likely be Hombale's maiden 'non-Kannada' release and the latest we hear is that the makers plan on releasing the film in June 2023. Although this isn't set in stone, we are informed that the film is currently in the last leg of post-production and is coming together at a good pace. Should everything fall in place as expected, one could expect an official word on the same at the earliest.
In his recent exclusive chat with OTTplay, Pawan Kumar said that the pre-release promotions will include more posters/ artwork of the film, along with the video teaser/trailer. Dhoomam will be released as a Malayalam original but will be dubbed and released in other languages such as Kannada, Tamil and Telugu.
Preetha Jayaraman has handled the film's cinematography with Pawan's most well-known collaborator Poornachandra Tejaswi scoring the music. Suresh Arumugam is the editor.
