While Gaurav Khanna played one of the pivotal characters of senior inspector Kavin during CID days, he was first recognized on TV when appearing opposite Yami Gautam in Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam (2009). The actor was also a part of Kumkum (2006-2007) prior to that. He played the character of Sharman Wadhwa in the TV show.
