Did you know playing Najeeb Muhammad in the upcoming film - Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) has been the toughest role till now for Prithviraj Sukumaran? Yes, that's exactly what he stated, with an explanation. The 41-year-old actor revealed that he got the offer way back in 2009, when Benyamin’s novel - Aadujeevitham - was already a hit. For the unversed, the Malayalam film is based on this novel.
Prithviraj shared that director Blessy gave him the third or maybe fourth edition of that book to read, before signing the project. Aadujeevitham is one of the best-selling novels in Malayalam. The Lucifer director revealed that numerous filmmakers wanted to make a film of the novel over the years, that too not only in Malayalam.
Prithviraj shared that he is very proud to be a part of Aadujeevitham. While talking about the novel, he said that if they wanted to put the entire novel in one feature film, it would have been almost a 9-hour film. Hence, instead of putting the whole thing in one film, Blessy decided to try and make the audience feel what Najeeb Muhammad went through in his life. His struggles, his misery, everything can be felt through Aadujeevitham.
Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) tells the real-life story of Najeeb Muhammad, an Indian migrant, who goes missing in Saudi Arabia. Najeeb's dream was to work in the Gulf and earn enough money to send back home. But in his attempt to achieve this dream, he ends up in a slave-like existence, herding goats in the middle of the Saudi desert. Finally, Najeeb plans a scheme to escape his desert prison. Penguin Books India's introduction describes the novel as a universal tale of loneliness and alienation.
Aadujeevitham is scheduled to be released on March 28, 2024, in theatres.
