Did Vir Das write a new character for Imran Khan in Happy Patel?
Vir Das did confess to Zoom in a recent interview that he wrote Imran Khan's character especially so he could fit the script. Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos marks their reunion after Delhi Belly. At the point of Imran Khan joining, Aamir Khan was already roped in for Happy Patel. At the time, Vir told Imran, "Give me some time. I’ll craft a character for you that is entertaining and wild, and we need to do something you’ve never attempted before." Now, Happy Patel marks Imran Khan's acting and Bollywood comeback project.
How did Imran Khan come on-board for Happy Patel?
Imran Khan reached out to Vir Das directly for Happy Patel. Vir recalled that it was during pre-production when Imran finally decided to text him about a part in the upcoming project. While being aware of the script, Imran reached out and Vir changed the script just so that Imran could be a part of Happy Jasoos. "One day, I got a text from Imran. He doesn’t even use WhatsApp," Vir shared, adding, "The message said, ‘Hey, I hear the movie is shaping up nicely. Can I come and do something fun in the film?" Vir was up for it, and thus, Imran became a part of Happy Patel.
Where did Imran Khan, Vir Das and Aamir Khan collaborate before Happy Patel?
Before Happy Patel happened, Vir Das, Aamir Khan and Imran Khan were a part of Delhi Belly. The film starred Aamir in a song cameo I Hate You Like I Love You, and Kunaal Roy Kapur was also a part of the movie which is now considered a cult film.
