Diljit Dosanjh recently introduced the cast of Sardaar Ji 3 through some BTS photos. The Punjab-based singer-actor introduced 'chudels,' and fans were quick to speculate that Hania Amir, who was supposed to be part of the movie, might still be in it. Diljit had smartly covered Hania's face in all the photos, but eagle-eyed fans could spot her. This has caused major concern among FWICE, who have objected to the film's theatrical release. They have also threatened to ban Diljit altogether, concerned that he has not taken the decision to ban Pakistani artists seriously. Here's everything you need to know...
FWICE has released a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to look into the matter. "In light of recent directives issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B Ministry), prohibiting Pakistani-origin content and collaboration with Pakistani artistes in Indian productions, and the parallel stance adopted by FWICE, we urge CBFC to align with these directives and national interest considerations before proceeding with certification. We appreciate CBFC's impartial and rigorous certification process and trust that you will give due consideration to this request (sic)," the letter reads.
There were speculations that Hania Amir would be a part of Sardaar Ji 3. However, once the news of ban was out, her name was no longer linked to the project, till her fans spotted her in Diljit's post introducing the 'chudels' of Sardaar Ji 3. Apart from Hania, other names like Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela are also now being associated with the film. Neither Diljit nor Neeru Bajwa have issued a clarification on the matter so far. The only clarification was that the t-shirt Diljit wore in the post was of veteran actor Michelle Yeoh and not Hania.
FWICE has strictly mentioned that Diljit himself could face a ban if the Pakistani artists are seen in his movie. While there have been constant speculations about whether or not Hania is part of the film, there is no certain clarification or move that clarifies that she is not a part of the movie. Thus, for now, it looks like Sardaar Ji 3 might not be releasing in theatres on its scheduled date aka June 27. Before Sardaar Ji 3, Diljit’s film Detective Sherdil would be out on Zee5 (can be streamed via OTTplay Premium). The movie is scheduled per release, on June 20.
