Dilli will be back! Karthi gives a crucial update on Kaithi 2 and we can't keep calm!

Kaithi 2 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated sequels in the Tamil film industry. While hopes are high for Kaithi 2, fans have been wanting to see their favourite character Dilli from Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) onscreen once again. Now, actor Karthi has given a crucial update about Kaithi 2 while speaking at an event. Karthi headlined Kaithi, in which he played the role of Dilli, a former convict who is out on parole and must help officials bust a drug cartel.

In a recent function attended by Karthi, the actor quoted the famous Dilli dialogue and said, "Naa ulla irudhan nu mattum dhan sir theriyum, ella porathuku munnadi enna pannitu irundhan nu theriyadhula. Dilli will be back (you only know that I was in jail, but you don’t know what I was doing before that). We will start it next year.”

Kaithi, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is the first installment in LCU, before Vikram and Leo. Kaithi became one of the commercial blockbusters in Karthi’s career. His character Dilli made a voice appearance in the Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram, further instigating interest in the project. Kaithi 2 is expected to be a prequel to Dilli’s character and how he is subsequently connected to the other installments. SR Prabhu bankrolled the film under Dream Warrior Pictures. Kaithi also starred in Narein, Arjun Das, and George Mariyan, among others.

Karthi’s sequel spree

Karthi was last seen in Raju Murugan’s Japan. While Kaithi 2 is one of the much-anticipated sequels, the actor also has sequel to his spy thriller Sardar 2 with director PS Mithran. The actor’s Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru with director H Vinoth is also expected to have a sequel at works.

Meanwhile, Karthi recently finished shooting for his film with 96-fame director Prem Kumar. The film, tentatively titled Karthi 27, also stars Arvind Swamy and Sri Divya in prominent roles. Karthi is also expected to collaborate with Nalan Kumarasamy for another film.
