Director Ameer is the latest addition to the cast of Karthick Naren's Dhanush-starrer Maaran 

The shooting of Karthick Naren's Maaran, which stars Dhanush in the lead, has been going on in full swing at Ramoji Film City at Hyderabad. The movie, which has the two time National Award winning actor playing a journalist, has Malavika Mohanan essaying the female lead. Samuthirakani, Master Mahendran and Smruthi Venkat will be seen in important roles in the project which is billed as an investigative thriller. 

We hear that the latest addition to the film's cast is director-actor Ameer. He was last seen in Vetri Maaran's Dhanush-starrer Vada Chennai (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar). He has VZ Durai's political thriller Naarkaali ready for release. The movie was earlier slated for a theatrical release in March this year. 

The movie was in the news for its first single, MGR song, which was released by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami earlier this year. The project had also hit headlines when director Durai said that he was upset with others interfering in his works which delayed the film's production. Chandini Sreedharan is paired opposite Ameer in the movie which has Anandraj, Raj Kapoor and Imman Annachi playing significant roles. 

Meanwhile, the makers of Maaran, the first look of which was revealed on Dhanush's 38th birthday, are expected to come up with another update soon. Produced by Sathya Jyothi Films, the movie has been written by Vivek, Suhas and Sharfu, along with Karthick. Dhanush is also busy with Mithran Jawahar's Thiruchitrambalam, the shooting of which is underway in Chennai. A leaked video from the film's location which has the actor shaking a leg along with Nithya Menen has been going viral on social media. The actor's last outing was Jagame Thandhiram which premiered on Netflix. He has Anand L Rai's Atrangi Re, Russo Brothers' The Gray Man and an untitled Tollywood project with Sekhar Kammula in his kitty.
