Director Ameer, who is currently working on his upcoming film Iraivan Miga Periyavan, recently released a video statement, clarifying his stance and relationship with former DMK leader Jaffer Sadiq who has been associated with international drug cartel.
Jaffer Sadiq is backing Ameer’s Iraivan Miga Periyavan, which is under production. Jaffer has been suspected to be the mastermind of the drug bust, with raids conducted at his place.
Ameer clarifies his stance
After Jaffer’s name got involved in the drug bust case, DMK expelled the politician. Jaffer Sadiq, at the time, was serving as the Chennai West district deputy organiser NRI wing. At the same time, news began to circulate dragging director Ameer’s involvement in illegal activities.
Subsequently, Ameer released a video statement and addressed the speculations. He said, "I would like to clarify my stance regarding the producer of my film Iraivan Miga Periyavan, Jaffer Sadiq. A section of media has falsely reported and claimed me being associated with illegal activities and videos have been surfacing on the internet. I would like to say one thing to them. I am against drugs, prostitution and interest. So, by equating me to these issues, can only damage by name and reputation, cause pain to my family members. There is no other gain you have by doing this. There is police and respective department officials who are investigating this case and I am always ready to be summoned for an enquiry. The director also thanked the ones who are standing by him during the tough times.
Iraivan Miga Periyavan
Iraivan Miga Periyavan is upcoming Tamil film directed by filmmaker Ameer. The film has script written by director Vetri Maaran. Backed by Jaffer Sadiq under JSM Pictures banner, the film features Azhar, Mirnaa Menon, Mydeen, Karu Palaniappan, among others. Yuvan Shankar Rajaa will be scoring music for the film.
A release date for the film has not yet been announced by the makers. With the producer under investigation, it is unknown how the case development will hamper the film’s progress. It is to be noted that Jaffer's another film, Mangai, which was supposed to have released on Friday, did not make it to theatres. The film stars Kayal Anandhi in the lead role.
