Director Harish Shankar, much like his master Ram Gopal Varma, never minces words on or off screen, speaks his heart out but occasionally lands in trouble too for the same reason. The filmmaker is currently helming Ustaad Bhagat Singh, the Telugu remake of Theri. The team has taken a break due to Pawan Kalyan’s political schedule ahead of the assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh.

In a tweet today, the director shared his view on Animal. “Perhaps..it won’t be ideal to say it’s good..this is the opinion of those who’ve watched Animal. Those who’ve liked it are praising it to great heights, that the film has ‘killed it’. A few have said cinema doesn’t have any rules. He (Sandeep Reddy Vanga) has broken rules not by saying it but by making a film,” Harish Shankar wrote.

Even though Harish Shankar mentions that he has concerns about the second half, he feels it wouldn’t matter now.”I feel quite naive writing these words because you can argue with content, but not with success. My near and hear have at least watched it once or twice. That he has ‘Vanga’ in his name is enough proof that he’ll not bow down to the views of critics.”

Much like the gun he uses before the interval, Sandeep has blasted the myth that a film won’t have a repeat audience with a long duration, Harish added. “Many congratulations to him.” Animal is headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Tripti Dimri. The film already grossed Rs 400 crore across the globe and is expected to have a terrific second weekend too.

Earlier this year, Harish Shankar was the showrunner of an OTT show titled ATM, directed by his associate Chandramohan. Meanwhile his Ustaad Bhagat Singh, apart from Pawan Kalyan, also features Sreeleela and has screenplay by noted filmmaker K Dasaradh. The action entertainer is produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
