1. First and foremost, 'Disco Dancer-The Musical' is the recreation of a cult film and a tribute to 80’s Bollywood

This was one of the films which catapulted Mithun Chakraborty to international stardom. One of the USPs of the film was its emotional rags-to-riches story which was complemented by a chartbuster musical soundtrack by (late) musician Bappi Lahiri. Besides Indi a, the film also proved to be a goldmine across Asia, the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa. The film also became the second highest-grossing film ever in the Soviet Union and the highest-grossing foreign film. While the film went Platinum in India, it received a Gold Award in China.
2. The film’s chartbuster musical score
Besides a compelling story line, the film also boasted of a chartbuster musical score which featured evergreen superhit tracks like ‘Goron Ki Na Kalon Ki..', 'Yaad Aa Raha Hai', 'Jimmy Jimmy' and the epic title track ‘Disco Dancer’. These songs were composed originally by (late) Bappi Lahiri and had been penned by Anjaan and Faruk Kaiser. These tracks have now been reimagined by the musical duo Salim and Sulaiman. The response to the musical in the UK was so massive and encouraging that the audiences were seen dancing in the aisles!
