Disha Patani is currently busy promoting her new movie Ek Villain Returns, which was released in theatres on July 29. The film which also features Tara Sutaria, John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor in the lead has received mixed reviews so far. Meanwhile, in an interview with Indian Express, Disha discussed her experience of working second time with Mohit Suri.

The actress expressed her admiration for the director's ability to represent female characters. She said, “Mohit sir always focuses more on women than the men in his films.” She further added that Mohit is an amazing director. “I’m so lucky that I’ve done two films with him. I don’t think anyone else can present actresses as he does,” the actress said.

Disha and Mohit previously collaborated in Malang, which features Aditya Roy Kapoor and Kunal Khemu in lead roles.

The actress also spoke about her seven-year-long journey, the characters she has portrayed and how the audience has become more supportive of her roles. Disha said despite making good content, at the end of the day it is the box office reports that matter the most. “If there is an acceptance for roles played by female actors, things are bound to change," said the actress.

Disha also stated that she believes the film industry has begun to take female performers more seriously. She also admitted that she feels fortunate to portray such various roles as a result of the shift. The actress also expresses how much she enjoys her job and is grateful for it. She simply wants to try something new every time.

The actress also mentioned that she needs to connect to the parts she plays on screen. She said that unless she can empathise with the character she is portraying, the audience will not.

Produced by Ekta Kapoor under Balaji Telefilms and Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, the film was released in theatres on July 29.
