Farhan Akhtar put all speculations around Don 3 to rest when he made an official announcement about the film in 2023. However, the makers received major backlash from the audience for casting Ranveer Singh in Shah Rukh Khan's place. The first two installments of Don featured Shah Rukh in the lead role. Despite receiving criticism, the makers stood firm on their decision. And they are now all set to begin working on the third installment of Don.

Don 3 to go on floors this year?

After Don 3 was officially announced with Ranveer Singh in August 2023, the makers have now decided to begin the pre-production work. According to a Mid-Day report, the team behind Ranveer Singh's Don 3 is likely to begin the film's pre-production work in March 2024. As of now, they have chosen August as the month when the action-thriller will go on floors with a full-fledged shoot schedule.

While the movie will initially be shot in Mumbai, the makers of Farhan Akhtar's directorial will then head to Europe for the shoot. And while SRK-starrer Don and Don 2 were stylized affairs, Farhan has a distinct vision for Don 3, featuring Ranveer Singh in the lead role.

Ranveer Singh on carrying Don's legacy forward

Ranveer Singh's casting for Don 3 didn't receive any appreciation as such. However, the Bollywood actor is excited about playing the lead role in Farhan's film. Ranveer penned a long note on Instagram wherein he spoke about carrying forward the legacy of the Don franchise.

The actor understood the fact that it was a great responsibility to be a part of the Don dynasty. Having said that, he hoped the audience would give him a chance and shower him with love the way they have done for his previous characters.

Ranveer Singh's work front

Meanwhile, Ranveer has Singham Again lined up for release this year. The actor will reprise the role of Sangram Bhalerao in the Rohit Shetty directorial. He has reunited with Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn in the movie, which is set for release on Independence Day 2024.
