It was during the pandemic that Bollywood witnessed one of the most dramatic turns of events when it was reported that Karan Johar had shelved one of his most anticipated productions, Dostana 2. The filmmaker was in the news for a long while because the reason behind shelving the movie was said to be his rift with actor Kartik Aaryan, allegedly caused by the latter’s unprofessionalism. Since then, there have been consistent reports about their differences, until now, when they announced a movie together. Janhvi Kapoor, who was a part of Dostana 2, recently spoke about shooting for the sequel to the hit 2008 film Dostana and what she feels happened that led to the movie being shelved after over a month of filming. For the uninitiated, Karan Johar was producing the sequel to John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra, and Abhishek Bachchan's starrer Dostana, titled Dostana 2. The film was being directed by Collin D’Cunha and starred Janhvi Kapoor alongside Lakshya Lalwani (who will now make his feature debut with Kill) and Kartik Aaryan. Janhvi Kapoor, in an interview with Lallantop, spoke about shooting for Dostana 2. She revealed how she shot for the film for 30-35 days and felt the shoot was going well. “I don’t know either. We had shot for that film for about 30 to 35 days. The shoot was going very well, according to me. I don’t know why the film was shelved. We began shooting for that film long before COVID. And then COVID happened and there was a delay of over one-and-a-half years. Then people felt that to restart the film… I don’t know,” she said.
Janhvi Kapoor further spoke about the rumours surrounding the feud between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar. She said, “I don’t think it was that. I think work is extremely important to both of them. But unke beech kya hua kya nahi hua, you should ask them about it.”
