In January this year, Netflix had announced its 2025 slate of 8 Tamil films , some of which were spill-overs from the year gone by. Joining films like Retro, Vidaamuyarchi, Thug Life, etc., were two of actor-filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan’s movies – Dragon, which he’d co-written with director Ashwath Marimuthu and debutant filmmaker Keerthiswaran’s untitled film with Mamitha Baiju in the lead. Just over a month later, Dragon, which also stars Anupama Parameswaran, Kayadu Lohar, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon, KS Ravikumar, George Maryan, among many others, released in theatres and was a run-away hit, clocking Rs 100-crore in collections in only 10 days.
The film is still going great guns at the box office, but given that its post-theatrical business had been closed earlier, there is speculation that Netflix could bring Dragon to the platform shortly. According to the latest buzz, Dragon will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi starting March 21, 2025 on Netflix. The platform is yet to confirm this, but the trend has been for films to drop after the 30-day mark.

Dragon had Pradeep as a college drop-out, who then fakes a degree and resorts to other short-cuts to get to quick success. But when he then has to return to college and clear all his arrears within a stipulated time, he has to seek the help of his ex-girlfriend, who’d once termed him a failure and now teaches at the institute.
Following Dragon, Pradeep will next be seen in Love Insurance Kompany, a sci-fi romantic drama directed by Vignesh Shivan, that he has co-written with the filmmaker and SJ Suryah. Pradeep is paired with Krithi Shetty in the film that will involve time travel. Love Insurance Kompany was initially announced with Sivakarthikeyan, but was shelved at one point owing to budgetary constraints. It was later revived with Pradeep.
