Ever since it was announced that Mohanlal-led Drishyam 3 would start rolling from October 2025, fans are eagerly waiting for any titbits of information. Filmmaker Jeethu Joseph will once again be back in the director’s chair for the third installment of the hugely popular thriller franchise. Jeethu Joseph is also involved in another anticipated film with Mohanlal, titled Ram. Though this film is fully under wraps, the Malayalam director has given one instance on how Mohanlal’s character in Ram would differ from Georgekutty in Drishyam.
Drishyam 3, one of the most-anticipated Malayalam films, stars Mohanlal as Georgekutty. In a recent interview with Movie World Media, the Drishyam director Jeethu Joseph spoke about the characterisation of Georgekutty, who uses his wit to outsmart the police and protect his family. But unlike heroes of mass movies, Georgekutty never resorts to violence or beating the pulp out of people.
Explaining that this is not in the nature of Georgekutty, a common man, Jeethu Joseph says, “Maximum he would pick up a stick and beat someone. If Georgekutty does resort to violence, it would be like the raw fight in Keeradam (Another Mohanlal movie).”

It all comes down to character, the director insists, saying that in a different film, Mohanlal’s character would behave differently. Quoting another example from his own upcoming project, Jeethu Joseph said that in the upcoming film Ram, “Mohanlal would be doing a different kind of fight.”
This does promise that we will get to see Mohanlal in a mass avatar in Ram, touted to be an action thriller.
Ram is a long-delayed project, which will mark yet another collaboration between Mohanlal and his Drishyam director. Ram, the first of the two-part films, has been facing continuous delays over various reasons, including financial issues.
On the other hand, Drishyam 3 will start rolling in October 2025, the makers have confirmed. The first Drishyam film released in 2013 and the second 2021 movie have a legion of fans and have been remade in multiple languages, including Hindi. Earlier, there were reports that the Hindi film, starring Ajay Devgn, planned to start shooting early, but they prevented it.
