Drishyam 3 is undoubtedly one of the most-awaited Malayalam films. The Mohanlal-led film series, helmed by Jeethu Joseph, has a fan following beyond Malayalam cinema, and an update is much-awaited. Jeethu Joseph had earlier shared a photo of the script, leading to speculations about the thriller film. Now, the makers have confirmed Drishyam 3 will start rolling in October of year itself after the festival of Onam, which falls in September.
After the stellar successes of Drishyam in 2013 and Drishyam 2 (which released on Prime Video in 2021), fans have been waiting for Jeethu Joseph to bring in the third part to conclude Georgekutty’s tale. There have been reports that the third part will start shooting this year itself. Now, Aashirvad Cinemas, which has backed the Drishyam films, has confirmed on social media that Drishyam 3 will start rolling in October. They posted a video of Mohanlal embracing Jeethu Joseph and Antony Perumbavoor on Instagram, along with a caption - "October 2025 — the camera turns back to Georgekutty. The past never stays silent."
Earlier, reports said that Jeethu Joseph and his team would start shooting in September 2025. However, the makers have now given an official confirmation that the shoot will begin in October. The director had earlier confirmed that the script had been locked.
Mohanlal stars as Georgekutty in the Drishyam film series, which follows an ordinary man’s fight to save his family after a crime is committed at his home. After the IG Geeth Prabhakar’s son Varun goes missing, the police come after the family, but they survive, thanks to Georgekutty’s presence of mind.
Though the police is sure that Varun has been killed, they are unable to find the body. In the second part, the police get a breakthrough when an eyewitness claims he knows exactly where the body is buried, but Georgekutty manages to escape the law yet again. The third part is said to be the final instalment in the hugely popular film series.
Apart from Mohanlal, Drishyam features Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil, who form Georgekutty’s family. Asha Sharath too delivered a gritty performance as IG Geetha.
Drishyam films have been remade in several other languages, including Hindi, which stars Ajay Devgn in the lead role.
