Drishyam 3, undoubtedly one of the highly anticipated films from Malayalam, has been in the news for the past several days after director Jeethu Joseph and lead actor Mohanlal confirmed that the film would start rolling in October 2025. Rumours about the script and the various conjectures about the final part of the thriller film are being discussed much online. Jeethu Joseph recently spoke about the plotline of the third part in Drishyam, and the similarities, including a 'flaw', it could have with the first two parts that were instantly liked by the audiences.
Jeethu Joseph, who helmed the first two parts of the popular Malayalam franchise, insists that Drishyam is a film revolving around a family. And the problems that face intrigued viewers, that's all, Jeethu Joseph was quoted as saying by the Cue Studio.
Jeethu Joseph further said, "I have heard people saying there was lag in the first half of the first two parts. The final part might also see the lag. Because the film centres on that family, with the plot weaving in their problems and emotional moments.”
In Drishyam 1, which released in 2013, Mohanlal starred in the lead role of Georgekutty, an ordinary cable operator in a small hill town in Kerala. His simple yet happy life with wife and two daughters is disrupted when the IG’s son Varun threatens his elder daughter. Varun gets killed, and now Georgekutty has to ensure that the police do not trace the crime back to his family.
Drishyam 2, which was released on Prime Video in 2021, picks up six years after the events of the first part which saw Georgekutty and the family escaping the law. The police are still looking for clues and a possible corpse that could prove to be evidence against Georgekutty. Tables turn on Georgekutty when an eyewitness offers to provide evidence in exchange for money.
Both Drishyam 1 and 2 started with the film focusing on family moments, and the actual action kicks off only towards the interval point. Now, Jeethu Joseph has said that the third part could also follow the same pattern. Like its predecessors, Drishyam 3 will also be released in other languages, including Hindi
