The sequel to the Denis Villeneuve directorial starring Timothee Chalamet has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year. When it got pushed to 2024, many of us were left heartbroken, as we were prepared to watch it on the big screen in December 2023. But as the wait is now extended by a couple of months, the latest update talks about the movie’s box office estimation, and it has gold written all over it.
About Dune:
For those who are not in the know, Dune: Part Two continues the story of Dune, directed by Denis and adapted from the namesake novels. The cinematic gem of a franchise stars Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, and Rebecca Ferguson. Part two is all set to take the story ahead and we will now have Zendaya leading the show with Timothee. The Spider-Man fame had a brief cameo in part one, teasing her massive involvement in part two.

The movie is estimated to be one of the six titles that will cross the $100 million mark in Q1 of 2024. Some distributors also have a feeling that the Timothee Chalamet starrer might end up earning over $1 billion at the global box office. While it is too early to gauge the billion-dollar haul, the buzz around the film is indeed massive.
Talking of the buzz, Dune has a long list of seasoned actors with their respective crowd pulls, and they are bound to attract the audience. Dune Part One managed to earn a global box office of $402 million even when the concept was new to many of us. Made at a budget of $165 million, this movie was indeed a success story, motivating the studio to make a sequel. So, we shouldn’t be surprised if the latest part manages to get big collections.
Denis Villeneuve On Dune 3:
The success of Dune 2 is crucial for Dune 3 because the sequel will decide if the third part is worth investing in. Talking about the same as per the same portal, Denis Villeneuve said, "If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream. Dune Messiah was written in reaction to the fact that people perceived Paul Atreides as a hero. Which is not what he wanted to do. My adaptation [of Dune] is closer to his idea that it's actually a warning."
