Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki and Prabhas' Salaar are all set to lock horns at the box office.
Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki and Prabhas' Salaar, set to lock horns at the box office, have generated a lot of excitement. With their early bookings for the opening day, both movies have dominated the box office. While the Prabhas-starrer aims to increase occupancy in the southern markets, the Shah Rukh Khan film is aggressively targeting the Hindi-speaking audiences in the north.
Salaar advance bookings
Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that Prabhas' Salaar, which is all set to release on December 22, has sold over 150,000 tickets and already collected an astounding Rs 3.58 crore from advance bookings. The Telugu-speaking region sold the most tickets—a startling 84,000, while the Malayalam-speaking parts sold the second-highest number—over 42,000. In the Hindi-speaking area, Salaar achieved almost 18,000 bookings in advance.
Dunki advance bookings
Shah Rukh Khan's eagerly awaited Dunki, which is scheduled for release on December 21, will provide serious competition for the movie. Their advance booking collections show the competition, with the SRK-starring film taking the lead with Rs 4.46 crore. December 15 marked the start of both movies' advance bookings. Given Dunki's advantage and Shah Rukh Khan's recent triumphs with Jawan and Pathaan, it can compete fiercely with Prabhas' Salaar.
In the international market, where it is being released one day ahead of Salaar, Dunki has an advantage over the latter. But back home, with both movies going head-to-head at the ticket booth, the audience seems to be on edge.
Salaar, which is directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the Hombale Films banner, stars Madhu Guruswamy, Shruthi Haasan, and Prabhas Raju Uppalapati in important parts. The film is all set to release in theatres on December 22, 2023.
Dunki, which is directed by Rajkumar Hirani, features Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar, Anil Grover, and Jyoti Subhash.
