Kannada actor Diganth (Gaalipata 2, Laughing Buddha) doesn’t talk about the injury he sustained to his eye during the shoot of a Hindi film in 2017 very often. But it is an instance that he says he would change if he could go back in time. Who wouldn’t? Diganth did, after all, as good as lose an eye, and is left with only 20% vision in it. The accident occurred on the set of a film called Ticket To Bollywood, in a scene featuring Diganth and his co-star Amyra Dastur.

On the Rajesh Reveals podcast, Pancharangi actor Diganth, who is currently promoting his next release, Edagaiye Apagathakke Karana, explained that one scene from the film was shot in his hotel room in London and the sequence involved him and his co-star (whom he did not name even once during the course of the conversation) of them having a heated argument.
“There is a misunderstanding between the characters and at the end of a heated exchange of words, she was to take my clothes out of a suitcase, throw them at me and ask me to leave. But for the life of her, she just could not get the emotions right,” he said.
They did at least 18-20 takes and could not get the shot they wanted. At some point, for reasons best known to Amyra, she decided to throw more than just clothes at Diganth. “She threw a stiletto shoe at me, the heel of which hit me directly in the eye. This was not part of the scene at all; she was only meant to throw my clothes. I don’t know if it was done intentionally or by mistake. All that I know is that I collapsed as soon as I was hit. I was unconscious for a good 15 minutes and when I was taken to a hospital in London, they didn’t sugarcoat the prognosis. ‘Sorry buddy, you’ve lost your eye’, is what they said,” reminisced Diganth.
That was the biggest shot of his life, adds Diganth, but instead of mopping around, he decided to move on with life. It did worry him that this injury could impact his career, but the actor was ready to face that scenario too. “Luckily, I continued getting opportunities and my career did not suffer much,” said Diganth.
When asked if the actor ever spoke to Amyra about the incident, Diganth revealed that all he got from her was a message apologizing for the incident and that she did not visit him even once during his hospital stay. Diganth reckons that anyone in the right frame of mind would not have hurled a stiletto at another person. “I guess she was not in the right frame of mind,” he says.
