Election 2024: Release date, plot, trailer, cast, crew, censor and more

Election is an upcoming Tamil film starring actor and director Vijay Kumar in the lead role. The film is scheduled to hit big screens on May 17. The upcoming film is written and directed by filmmaker Thamizh, who has previously made the critically acclaimed Seththumaan.

Plot

The plot of Election is about a man named Nadarasan, who does not seem to be interested in politics, but eventually jumps into it in order to honour his father. As he contests in the local body elections, Nadarasan understands the murky world of politics, the trials and tribulations and the cutthroat atmosphere.

Trailer

The trailer of the film was released by the makers recently. It begins with a quote by Abraham Lincoln, “The ballot is stronger than the bullet.” A character talks about the importance of the shoulder towel for a politician, something that is very common in Tamil Nadu. There are also intercuts to various campaigns for the elections. In between this, we also see a young couple in love and getting married eventually. The husband is later seen as a contestant for an upcoming election, while his mother is advising him against joining politics. Without revealing the plot, we are shown the face-off between candidates who are sons of a leader and cadet, contesting against each other.

Cast and crew

Election stars Vijay Kumar who has previously helmed Uriyadi and Uriyadi 2, in the lead role. Other cast members include actors Preethi Asrani, Richa Joshi, George Maryan, Paval Navageethan, and Dileepan. The movie is directed by filmmaker Thamizh, whose debut film was the critically acclaimed Seththumaan.

Election is produced by Aditya under the banner Reel Good Films. The technical crew of Election consists of music scored by Govind Vasantha with cinematography handled by Mahendiran Jayaraju. ‘Stunner’ Sam is the stunt coordinator and CS Premkumar has edited Election.

Censor and runtime

The film has been censored U/A by the Censor Board and has a runtime of two hours. Election will be released on May 17 on big screens along with Santhanam-starrer Inga Naan Thaan Kingu.
