Election, the 2024 Tamil film starring actor-director Vijay Kumar in the lead role, is now available for streaming on Prime Video. The film is directed by filmmaker Thamizh who had made the critically acclaimed film Seththumaan.
Election is a Tamil film that released on May 17 in theatres. After completing its run, the film is now available for streaming on Prime Video. Headlined by actor-filmmaker Vijay Kumar, Election is a political drama that focusses on the grassroots political system in Tamil Nadu.
The film follows the life of a man called Nadarasan, son of a party cadre. However, after his father feels belittled by his party, Nadarasan jumps into politics in order to save his father's honour. Through the course of contesting in the polls, he gets to know the murky world of politics.
Apart from Vijay Kumar, the film also stars actors Preethi Asrani, Richa Joshi, George Maryan, Paval Navageethan, and Dileepan. Backed by Aditya under the banner Reel Good Films, the music is scored by Govind Vasantha with the camera cranked by Mahendiran Jayaraju. ‘Stunner’ Sam is the stunt coordinator and CS Premkumar has edited Election. The film opened to mixed reviews.

The film, which won appreciation in the film festival circuit, is a hard-hitting drama that talks about the food politics, which is a pivotal part of caste oppression in Tamil Nadu and India.
Seththumaan revolves around a basket weaver who aspires to offer a better life for his grandson. After one day he is employed by a few caste Hindus to cook pork, a meat that is usually frowned upon and seen as an inferior dish, the day turns out to be a testimony of the harsh reality. The film was backed by filmmaker Pa Ranjith.
