Ashok Selvan will be starring in director Balaji’s romantic comedy Emakku Thozhil Romance. In an interview, Balaji has revealed that the actor will be essaying the role of an assistant director in the film. He further said that the film is written to entertain the audience, promising an out-and-out entertainer. The director also mentioned that the film will have actress Urvasi playing the role of Ashok’s mother.
Title inspired from Bharathiyar’s poem
The director also revealed that the title Emakku Thozhil Romance was inspired by one of Tamil poet Bharathiyar’s poems ‘Emakku Thozhil Kavithai’. The director wanted to give a ‘fun spin’ to the title and hence, replaced ‘kavithai’ with Romance in the title.
Speaking more about Ashok Selvan’s character, the director revealed that Ashok plays an assistant director named Uma Shankar, aka Uma in the film. On the other hand, actress Avantika Mishra, who plays the female lead, is set to essay the role of a nurse named Leona Joseph, aka Leo. The film will centre around their love story and the conflicts that arise along the way. Interestingly, the director said that Ashok’s charming persona and lovable screen presence made him pick the star as the lead character in the film.
Emakku Thozhil Romance plot
Helmed by debutant director Balaji Kesavan, the upcoming film is said to be a romantic comedy, which will explore the love life of the protagonist, the subsequent problems, and how his family and friends help him resolve the issues. Ashok Selvan, who is known for his feel-good films, is here to entertain us with yet another light-hearted drama. Bankrolled by T Creations and M Thirumalai, Ashok Selvan-starrer’s first-look poster and title were unveiled earlier.
Emakku Thozhil Romance cast
Apart from the lead cast, Emakku Thozhil Romance also stars Azhagar Perumal, Bucks, MS Bhaskar, Vijay Varadaraj and Badava Gopi in key roles. The film has music scored by Nivas K Prasanna, with Ganesh Chandra cranking the camera. Jerome Allen has worked as the editor. The release date of the film is yet to be announced.
