Tamil viral hit song Enjoy Enjaami is once again back in the news. After it was embroiled in the controversy that the makers had sidelined lyricist-rapper Arivu's contribution during the Rolling Stone cover issue back in 2021, composer of the song Santhosh Narayanan had recently revealed that the indie artists involved in the project are yet to get any revenue from the song.

Singer Dhee, who is also part of the project, spoke about the issue and supported AR Rahman who was called out for being the face of the label, maajja, that had released Enjoy Enjaami. The song is composed by Santhosh Narayanan with vocals provided by Arivu and Dhee. Arivu has also written the song, which is inspired from the life of his grandmother who migrated as a plantation worker to Ceylon.

What did Dhee say?

After Santhosh Narayanan said that even after three years since the release of the song, the artists involved in the project are yet to get any revenue from it, many began to blame AR Rahman. Although Santhosh did not take names, it is known that Enjoy Enjaami is associated with maajja label which has AR Rahman as one of its faces. While a section of people blamed Rahman for the issue, Santhosh Narayanan came out in defence of the musician and said that he too is a “victim of many false promises and malice”.

Now, singer Dhee has also supported Rahman. In her post sharing Santhosh’s stance, she wrote, “I hope this explains well. It’s hard to see comments criticising ARR, as he has been nothing but supportive from day one. I have learned from my own experiences that what's on the internet and real life can be entirely opposite to what most people may believe.”

Enjoy Enjaami revenue row

Enjoy Enjaami has been in the soup for a while. Recently, Santhosh Narayanan had made startling revelations that the artists, including himself involved in the project, have not been paid any revenue from the song, despite being promised the full ownership. He had also claimed that his YouTube channel has been stolen by the same label.

The label and AR Rahman are yet to comment on the issue.
