Esha Gupta says she once stormed off a movie set after being verbally abused

Esha Gupta recently spoke about an incident where she walked off a movie set after being verbally abused by the director. 

Although she did not disclose his identity, she said she took a stand against the disrespect shown towards her, told film outlet Bollywood Bubble. 

The 35-year-old actress described the incident as ‘worst of the experiences’. She happened to show up late on the set once, owing to an outfit issue, explained her. This led to verbal abuse, even though she admitted her mistake and explained her part. But the director continued to disrespect her, which led her to storm off the set.

She further said that the producers and executives incessantly contacted and apologized to her, yet she stood assertive in her stand, demanding for an apology from the director. She received it two days later, after which she returned to the set and resumed the shoot. 

In a chat with Bollywood Hungama last month, she had taken a stand on the colourism in Bollywood, and shared her personal experience. The model-turned-actress said that she received a lot of advice to apply more makeup for a fairer skin tone, and many makeup artists even tried to cover up her original skin tone.

Gupta is popular for several movies like Jannat 2, Humshakals, OneDay: Justice Delivered and more. 

She will be next seen in the upcoming rom-com Desi Magic helmed by Mehul Atha. She will also be appearing in the third installment of Hera Pheri movies, which is titled as Hera Pheri 3.
