Salma Hayek will soon be seen in Chloé Zhao-directed Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Eternals. In a recent interview, the actor said that getting the opportunity to play a superhero in her 50s has been a "very humbling" experience.

"t's a really humbling experience because, you know, I dream big. I dream big and if I hadn't I wouldn't have gotten here at all. In my big dreams, I wanted to be a superhero, and I wanted to work with the best directors in the world and have big blockbuster movies and also movies that are art, that are made from a very deep place with great directors," Hayek said at the film's virtual press conference on Tuesday, according to Press Trust of India

Hayek will be seen as Ajak, a spiritual leader to the titular group of immortals who have secretly lived on Earth for more than 7000 years. Ajak holds the ability to heal and mediate between the Eternals and their creators the Celestials.

Hayek said that in her past years as an actor, she was never considered for roles in art films, nor for any superhero films. She said that she had given up on her dream to play a superhero until she was offered Eternals

The actor said that it has been "humbling" to play this role, and to work with a director like Zhao. She added that she now believes it is possible to "do something that comes from a deep place that is also a big blockbuster."

Eternals also stars Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Kumail Nanjiani, and Angelina Jolie.

The film, which is MCU Phase 4's third big screen project, will be released in India on November 5 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
