ETV Win accuses Zee5’s Viraatapalem PC Meena Reporting of copying Constable Kanakam

Viraatapalem – P C Meena Reporting is Zee5's new series that is all set to stream on June 27, 2025. Ever since the trailer was released, the series has become a talking point. Just ahead of the OTT release, the crime drama has been embroiled in a controversy of sorts.

Viraatapalem PC Meena Reporting lands in plagiarism controversy

Going into details, ETV Win has accused the makers of Viraatapalem – P C Meena Reporting of plagiarism. They state that their upcoming show, Constable Kanakam, has been plagiarised by the makers of Viraatapalem – P C Meena Reporting, as the story and concept are the same.

The director of Constable Kanakam, Prasanth Kumar Dimmala, stated in a press interaction that he submitted the story and screenplay of Constable Kanakam way back to Zee5, and they made a web series titled Viraatapalem – P C Meena Reporting with the same story and characters. Prasanth stated that his team had registered the show with ETV Win back in 2022 and will file a case against Zee5 in this regard.

Varsha Bollama plays the female lead in Constable Kanakam, whereas upcoming actress Abhignya Vuthaluru will be seen as the lead in Viraatapalem – P C Meena Reporting. The series is about a female cop landing in a small village to investigate a case where brides are mysteriously killed on their wedding nights.

Constable Kanakam director Prasanth slams Zee5

Director Prasanth states that the makers of the Zee5 show did not even ask his permission and straightaway copied his concept and made Viraatapalem – P C Meena Reporting. A case has been filed, and the investigation is on as of now. Viraatapalem – P C Meena Reporting has created a decent buzz for itself and will be out on Zee5 in just a few hours.
