In 2006, Aniruddha Roychowdhury debuted as a filmmaker with a relationship tale of two couples in Anuranan. Set in the mystic hill station, the film delves into the lives and interactions between the characters played by Rituparna Sengupta, Raima Sen, Rahul Bose, and Rajat Kapoor. The film was screened at the International Film Festival of India and bagged the National Award for Best Bengali Feature Film.
Now, after 17 years of Anuranan, Aniruddha is bringing back the nostalgia of the film. He took to his social media and hinted at a sequel. When we contacted the filmmaker, he said, “There are films that leave a lasting impact in your mind. Anuranan, for me, is that. It invokes memories of the time we spent while shooting. Making a sequel is in my thoughts. A lot of people keep asking me about Anuranan on social media. There is a story in my mind. I surely want to make a film with Rituparna Sengupta, Raima Sen, and Rahul Bose.”
Soon after the director posted his intent to make a sequel on social media, his comrades, including Srijit Mukherji, encouraged him to make one. He assured them that he started the process. We will have to wait to see when the film may start.
On the other hand, Aniruddha’s Kadak Singh, which features Pankaj Tripathi, Jaya Ahsan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Sanjana Sanghi, will be released this year. The post-production is in full swing. Earlier this year, his film Lost was dropped on Zee5. The film features Yami Gautam, Pankaj Kapur, Rahul Khanna, Neil Bhoopalam, Pia Bajpiee, and others.
