It was the dream to make a realistic film which deals with human emotions which made filmmaker Arisil Moorthy come up with Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum which dropped on Amazon Prime Video a few days ago. Though he was keen on casting newbies for the lead characters, Mithun Manickam and Ramya Pandian were roped in to play the lead roles.
Popular YouTuber Vadivel Murugan also came on board to play a significant role in the movie. His role is considered to be one of the positive aspects of the film by critics and movie buffs alike. However, Moorthy says that Vadivel was initially skeptical in accepting the role as he thought the offer he received was fake.
In a chat with OTTplay, Moorthy opens up, "I really loved the videos he used to upload in YouTube. I found him to be quite talented; pulling off imaginary conversations in an engaging manner is no mean feat. We approached him for the character of protagonist's friend. But he wasn't convinced about our team and the details we provided about the film. Later, I asked Mithun to get in touch with him. Meanwhile, he enquired about the movie we are making and replied after a week after learning that our offer was real."
Moorthy adds that Vadivel wasn't sure if he could pull off the role offered to him. He says, "Anyone who has watched Vadivel's YouTube videos knows how good he is when it comes to presenting dialogues which are written by him. But he felt it is difficult to play the character as the dialogues in the script required a different dialect and voice modulation. We made him comfortable and ensured that he practiced his lines every day in the morning. As time passed by, he got used to the dialogues, and we felt he exceeded our expectations."
