Malavika Mohanan, who was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vijay-starrer Master, is keeping her fingers crossed as her first OTT release, Maaran, is all set to drop on Disney+ Hotstar in two days. She has shared the screen space with Dhanush for the first time in the movie which has been directed by Karthick Naren.

She essays the role of a bold journalist in the project, which according to her, offers a lot of scope to improvise her character. Billed as a thriller, the movie has GV Prakash composing music, while Samuthirakani, Smruthi Venkat and Mahendran have played significant roles in it.

In a chat with us, the actress said that it was fun working for the film as she loved learning the nuances of playing a journalist. She said, "It was great fun to be part of another commercial entertainer. There wasn't any workshop as such for us, but small things like tweaking body language, holding a camera, media work culture, dressing style, etc, are a few things I got to learn during the shooting."

She added, "I also used to analyze my performances often. My goal has been to better myself as an actor. I discussed it with my friends and colleagues as well."

Malavika feels that Maaran will be a different film for Dhanush as well. "He has been doing a few rural subjects of late. His role in Maaran is different from those. It's a stylish, fast-paced urban thriller. It is a mass movie, which has gripping content."

Having worked with Rajinikanth and Vijay as well in her career, she wishes to work with the former again as she feels her film, Petta, with him was special. "Rajini sir was the hero of my first Tamil movie. So, he and the film will remain special for me. I would be glad if I get a chance to work with him again," she added.
